Top of Franschhoek’s ‘to eat at’ list
Earlier this week, Naomi, editor of House&Leisure, and myself as well as some other very lucky people were invited to the beautiful Grande Provence in Franschhoek for a lunch that can only be described as absolutely exquisite. The Michelin Star Executive Chef Michael Louws from their famed sister property, Huka Lodge in New Zealand, was in SA and treated us all to his culinary magic alongside Exec Chef, Darren Roberts. He was over to lend his services to a charity lunch held at Grande Provence in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, which we hear was a great success. All four courses were matched with a Grande Provence wine, we were even treated to their 2009 chardonnay which is no longer for sale as only 60 bottles are left (I am a chardonnay girl and it was a serious treat). Each course was a mouthwatering delight but the pudding was to die for! Grande Provence has definitely gone to the top of my list for winter weekend destinations for a deliciously indulgent Sunday lunch, or two. Visit grandeprovence.co.za
