Born This Way
Blogging about a blog seems a little bit strange, but BornThisWayblog.com is more than just a blog, it sends a message. It is a space where people who are gay can go and tell their personal growing-up stories, using a childhood photograph. When I first discovered this blog I thought it was such an amazing idea. The creator of the blog, Paul V. describes the blog as: “A photo/essay project for gay adults (of all genders) to submit childhood pictures and stories (roughly ages 2 to 12), reflecting memories & early beginnings of their innate LGBTQ selves. Nurture allows what nature endows. It’s their nature, their truth!” He has since created another blog called myfirstgaycrush.com. In this month’s issue of Marie Claire we talked to six out-and-proud celebrities about their personal and diverse journeys of growing up gay, trying to show that there is not just one kind of gay or straight person. I loved what Mr. Gay SA, Francois Nel said in our article, ‘People will always have differences, but we are more similar than we are different.’ Tell us what you think…
