Jozi was abuzz with talk of the Brutal Fruit Glam Camp. We were lucky enough to get a glimpse in to the fun filled weekend – beauty intern Afrika Gola shares her experience and pics of what they call ‘glamping’.

It’s my second week on the job and I got to go to Brutal Glam Camp this past weekend! What an amazing experience it was. Friday kicked off with a press conference, which explained what a treat the ladies were in for. I managed to take sneak peek of the VIPs and celebs’ tents. This was not your usual dusty campsite with the bare essentials. Brutal Fruit went out of their way treat the ladies to a real Glam Camp. The tents had their own bathrooms, dressing rooms and comfy bed. It deserved a five star rating for spoiling us like true queens.

After settling into my own tent,  I joined the other ladies for dinner in the dining tent. We were entertained with a performance by local singing sensation LeAnne. I ended the evening off socialising with invited guests and celebrities. The second day at Brutal Fruit’s Glam Camp was filled with fun, and interesting  workshops. The yummy DIY expert Aidan Bennets shared his skills and showed how us ladies could do a couple of things around the house. Carl Isaacs highlighted the do’s and don’ts of using make-up. I learnt how to be a culinary genius with Aubrey Ngcungama as we cooked up a few delicious dishes. Petrolhead Charleen Clarke, shared her knowledge about the motor industry and what ladies should know about cars. Lastly, I picked up a few tips from Maya Fisher-French on how to be smart with my finances.

Sorbet ensured that all the ladies were pampered throughout the day with massages and nail treatments. There was an endless supply of food and drinks during the breaks.To end the night off, Zebra & Giraffe performed some of their hits and 5fm’s glam girl Poppy Nthsongwana hit the decks into the night. The Brutal Fruit Glam Camp was a perfect, fun-filled weekend. No one went home empty-handed, each guest was treated to a fabulous goodie bag. Lucky me!

Recently, a massive announcement was made at the AFI Joburg Fashion Week Media Launch, hosted by Hyde Park Corner; Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has officially hit South Africa. AFI (Africa Fashion International) CEO and founder Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe informed local celebrities, members of the press and fashion insiders of the momentous collaboration with the automotive giant. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will take place in Joburg and Cape Town, as well Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa- the first continental Fashion Week the company will be sponsoring. This news is very important and exciting for our local fashion industry, here’s hoping it will become as big as other Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weeks as such New York, Miami, Berlin and Madrid. 1. Using Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner, R94,95, gently press the brush along the lash line and begin to lift it towards the outside of the eye. Result: a line that is slightly thicker in the middle of the lash line and a perfect, sharp, delicate line towards the outside edge.

2. Keep layering mascara while it is wet, but stop as soon as it is dry or it will crumble.

3. The spoon angle of the brush makes out-of-reach lashes easier to coat, giving those outer corner lashes sexy, feline length.
