Nando’s comedy Festival

Today sees the beginning of the Nando’s annual comedy festival. The festival will take place throughout Joburg, Durban and Cape Town. The first leg kicks off today at the Teatro in Montecasino for it’s 4th consecutive year and runs till the 31st. They host a variety of comedians this year ranging from Mark Curry to Dave Thornton and many more. Next stop is Durban this will be their 3rd year and will run from the 4th to the 6th of  August at the ICC. The last stop for this comedy roadshow will be Cape Town which will be hosting their 15th year. Its taking place at the Artscape Theatre and will host some amazing comedians like Greg Behrendt (co-author of “He’s just not that into you”).

Another favourite part of the festivals are the very popular local stand-­up competitions or “Graça Comedy Showdowns”. Contestants fight it out regionally o‐stage during the “heats” with nothing more than their quick wit, a mic, and a burning desire to become the newest comedy hero of the festivals. The winners of each of these annual search for SA’s new stand up stars will get the chance to perform alongside the international comedians  for the duration of  the festival.
