Charlize Theron on marriage
Recently Charlize Theron spoke up about her thoughts on marriage and marriage equality. Charlize split from long term boyfriend, fellow actor, Stuart Townsend last year and said that marriage is not something she is particularly interested in. She told Piers Morgan on ‘Piers Morgan Tonight’, that: “I really want for myself a long-term relationship. And I have been in long-term relationships. That’s the kind of union that I want. The actual ceremony is not something that is important to me—but I see the importance for other people.” She also said that she is extremely happy about the vote in New York, which now allows same sex couples to get hitched. However, she complained about the fact that so many states still don’t allow gay marriage. She said: “It’s a divine right and when government starts to tell us who can love and what is good love, I do have a problem with that. I have a problem with the fact that our government hasn’t stepped up enough to make this federal, to make this legal.” Like Charlize, I’m also an advocate for same sex marriage, since I believe everyone should enjoy the same rights, no matter what their sexual orientation, race, class, etc. Tell us what’s your feelings on the subject?
