Hamsters love Goldfish too

by marieClairvoyant

Purely by accident, I discovered these two adverts online for Hyundai’s new 2010 Kia Soul. (Hyundai, come on, screen them locally too!) They’re fun, they’re clever, the animation is great – and they’re proof that South Africa’s very own musical duo Goldfish not only has worldwide appeal (which, let’s face it, we already knew!), but that we’re not the only mammals out there to enjoy a good Goldfish groove! Wanna kick-start your weekend? Then watch ‘em now!

You Go Jen

by marieClairvoyant

Jennifer Aniston can be a bit of a pitiful character. That’s why we all love her, right? Because all of us, if we’re honest, love a wounded celebrity. It makes them seem more human. And less smug. When recently discussing her latest movie The Switch (thank God they changed the title from The Baster considering it’s a film about artificial insemination) she shared her views on single parenthood and sperm donation – the main themes of this average-rom-com sounding flick – saying ‘Women are realizing more and more that you don’t have to settle with a man to have that child.’ And that got one US talkshow host, Bill O’Reilly, very pissed off indeed. artist mark hipper dies

by marieClairvoyant

I studied fine art at Rhodes University and Mark Hipper, an esteemed artist who has exhibited locally and abroad was one of the lecturers there. I didn’t study directly under him but he used to take part in the dreaded ‘crits’ where all our works for the semester were assessed in front of everyone in the art department from 1st year to masters to professors. It was a terrifying experience, Mark was equally terrifying but he was also hauntingly good. I am so sad to hear of his passing.
